PATNA, July 24 -- A joint team of Bihar police and Delhi crime branch arrested an active gangster of Uttar Pradesh, who shot dead the president of Nabinagar Vyapar Mandal, Sanjay Singh, at Mali village in Aurangabad on November 30, 2024. The gangster was arrested from Prembari Pul near Keshav Puram in New Delhi. The gangster identified as Rahul Singh Rajput (39) is a native of Jaunpur in UP. Apart from brutal murder of Sanjay Singh, he has been involved in more than 31 criminal cases of murder, attempt to murder, extortion, robbery, arms Act, UP Gangster Act, etc. Sanjay Singh, a former mukhia of the village, was shot dead while returning in his car from Aurangabad district headquarters. Unidentified criminals stopped his car on Nabinagar-Aurangabad road near Sonora electricity grid and shot him dead. Singh's wife, Meena Devi, was elected president of Ankorha Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) two days back. The reason behind the murder of Sanjay Singh is said to be a post-poll related dispute with one Rakesh Giri's family. Nawada SP Ambrish Rahul said that so far seven accused had been arrested till now for their direct involvement/criminal conspiracy in the murder. But, the main shooter Rahul Singh Rajput was still evading the clutches of law even though the court had issued NBW against him. Deputy commissioner of Delhi crime branch Harsh Indora informed that Aurangabad police requested police assistance to apprehend the wanted criminal. Considering the profile of the criminal, senior officers were apprised of the same and acting upon their directions, a special team comprising crime branch sleuths under close supervision of ACP Shri Narender Singh Beniwal to nab the wanted murderer.
