RANCHI, Sept. 13 -- The Union coal ministry has decided to introduce a compulsory uniform for all employees of the public sector undertakings (PSUs) under it and approved an increase of the ex-gratia amount paid to its workers by Rs.10 lakh, besides hiking their life insurance coverage by Rs.1 crore, Union coal and mines minister G Kishan Reddy said on Friday. He said all these changes would come into effect from September 17. "For the first time post-Independence, we are introducing a compulsory uniform for all employees of the PSUs of Coal India as well as the MDO (Mine Development Operator).
