Dehradun, Nov. 18 -- Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday directed all district magistrates (DMs) to conduct a thorough investigation into Permanent Resident Certificates (PRCs) issued in their districts over past three years and initiate action against those involved in issuing them fraudulently. The directions came during a virtual review meeting held with DMs and officials to assess development work, grievance redressal and administrative reforms. Dhami said irregularities in the issuance of PRCs would not be tolerated and asked officials to ensure strict monitoring at every level. Reiterating the government's vision of projecting Uttarakhand as "spiritual capital" of India and the world, Dhami proposed developing one village in every block as a 'spiritual village' on a pilot basis. He said such villages would house yoga training centres, Ayurvedic healthcare facilities, meditation and mental wellness programmes, and platforms for spiritual learning. "This will strengthen the physical and mental well-being of locals, while also giving Uttarakhand a new identity linked to health and tourism," Dhami said.
