PATNA, Aug. 25 -- Two Sub-Inspectors (SIs) and two constables posted at Bikram police station in Patna were suspended for allegedly extorting money to release a youth, police said on Sunday. Police further said that Dharmveer Kumar, son of a chowkidar, was arrested in this connection. City SP (West) BP Singh said that on August 21, a youth, Aditya Kumar Pandey, along with two friends, had come to Bikram to attend a fair. During vehicle checking, police intercepted his bike. While two of his friends managed to escape, Aditya was detained and brought to the police station though he was later released. Subsequently, Aditya alleged that a person from the police station had taken Rs.3,500 from him for his release. Following this, an inquiry team was set up. "The probe revealed that Dharmveer Kumar had collected Rs.3,500 and transferred it to a shop in the name of releasing the youth," Singh said. "The role of SIs Rekha Kumari and Rahul Kumar Singh, along with constables Rajababu and Amresh Kumar, was found suspicious. They have been suspended with immediate effect and departmental action has been initiated," the SP added....
