Two robbers injured in encounter with cops
PATNA, June 27 -- Two criminals carrying rewards of Rs.50,000 each on their head, sustained injuries in an encounter with Muzaffarpur police at Majhaulia orchard under Paru police station early on Thursday, police said.
Identified as Suraj Sahni (24) and Neeraj Thakur (20), the two were members of a self-proclaimed inter-district gang involved in more than 20 crimes like robbery, dacoity, bombing and other heinous offences. They sustained bullet injuries on their legs and were undergoing treatment at SKMCH hospital. They were active in Saraiya police sub division, police added.
"On June 24, the two were apprehended around 1.40 am in a Rs.4 lakh loot case. "In the course of their return to the police station, the criminals wished to visit the washroom. As soon as police vehicle in which they were travelling stopped, the duo fled from the police clutches. As police were chasing them, the miscreants opened fire on the police. However, since they refused to surrender and continued firing, the police team opened controlled fire in order to immobilise them," said Muzaffarpur SSP Sushil Kumar.
Both were natives of Motihari in East Champaran, who were wanted in more than two dozen criminal cases across North Bihar. These criminals had a long history of involvement in serious crimes, including multiple loot cases at CHCs in Muzaffarpur, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Samastipur, and adjoining districts, police said.
The arrest is being seen as a major success for Muzaffarpur police, particularly as both men were known to be highly mobile and skilled in evading capture.
"We have registered an FIR against the two at Paro police station for attacking government employees. We are also making efforts to crack their nexus. More arrests will be possible after their interrogation," the SSP added....
