Two orchestra girls abducted, molested in Gaya Ji, four booked
GAYA JI, Aug. 14 -- Gaya Ji police on Wednesday registered a case against four persons, including a forest department official, a constable, and the chairman of a temple committee, for allegedly abducting, molesting, and misbehaving with two girls from a musician group, police said.
The group had come to present shows in the yearly Shrawani Mela organised at Bankedham Temple under Banke Bazar police station area, police further said.
According to the complaint filed by group owner Mala Kumari, forester Anish Kumar, constable Govind, cameraman Golu and temple committee chairman Ajay Paswan forcibly entered their camp at 12 pm on Monday night.
She alleged that the forester offered her Rs.2,000 to spend the night with him. He also asked to send two more girls to his office for the purpose.
On refusal, they became angry and threatened her with dire consequences. They forcibly took away two girls to the forest department office, molested and misbehaved with them.
Despite the girls crying and begging for mercy, they did not leave them before the members of the group reached there and raised an alarm.
Following the incident, group members reached the Banke Bazar police station in the morning, but police initially refused to register a case. Angered by the police's response, the group members, along with artists from other troupes participating in the fair, staged a protest and blocked the Sherghati-Imamganj main road at the temple gate. They demanded the registration of a case and the arrest of the accused. The blockade was lifted after senior administrative and police officials assured them of action.
Banke Bazar Station House Officer (SHO) Mantu Kumar disconnected the call when this correspondent sought factual information.
Gaya Ji Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anand Kumar later said that a case had been registered against the four accused named in the complaint. He added that the matter was under investigation and all necessary action would be taken....
