Two drown in East Champaran
BETTIAH, July 30 -- At least two people drowned, while six others were rescued after they accidentally plunged into the Sirsa river in East Champaran district on Tuesday.
Shashibhushan Kumar, additional station house officer (ASHO), said that the incident occurred when a group of villagers entered the river near Ward Number 10 of Machhaha village to take a bath.
"Two of them drowned, and their bodies were later recovered and sent for post-mortem," the ASHO said, adding that six others were safely rescued from the river.
The deceased were identified as Rohit Kumar (22) and Shyam Kumar (16), both residents of Machhaha village.
Meanwhile, a thorough investigation has been launched into the drowning incident, said a police official....
