PATNA, May 29 -- In a tragic road accident, two Bihar police personnel were killed and four others injured when their vehicle overturned on the Delhi-Mumbai eight-lane expressway in Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday morning. According to the police headquarters (PHQ), the victims were part of a Special Operations Group (SOG) team from the Bihar Special Task Force (STF). The team was en route from Gaya, Bihar to Surat, Gujarat in a Scorpio SUV to conduct a raid when the vehicle lost control and overturned on the expressway. Personnel from the Industrial police station in Ratlam, along with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) staff, rushed to the scene and transported the injured to Dr. Laxmi Narayan Pandey Government Medical College in Ratlam. One of the injured personnel was later shifted to the Super Speciality Hospital in Indore for advanced treatment. Additional Director General (Headquarters) Kundan Krishnan, who also holds the charge of ADG (Operations), confirmed the deaths. He said a team comprising three DSP-rank STF officials is being dispatched to Ratlam to bring back the bodies and ensure proper care for the injured. The deceased have been identified as sub-inspector Mukund Murari, a resident of Bakhtiyarpur, Patna, and constable Vikas Kumar, a resident of Jehanabad. The injured policemen have been identified as SI Santosh Kumar, constable Jeevdhari Kumar, constable Mithilesh Paswan, and constable Ranjan Kumar. Eyewitness and injured constable Ranjan Kumar recalled the abruptness of the accident. "I was sleeping in the back and didn't know how the car overturned. When it stopped, I got out and saw the others lying outside. Two were already dead, and others were badly injured," he said. The SUV was severely damaged in the incident. Meanwhile, Industrial police station has registered a case and further investigation is underway....
