Haridwar, May 19 -- Two people have been arrested in connection with two separate rape cases involving teenage girls, police confirmed on Sunday. In the first case, Laksar police arrested Soyab Ali (25), a resident of Laksar, who had been absconding after allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl on May 15. "After a tip-off, our team apprehended the accused on Saturday night. We even conducted raids at multiple locations across Haridwar, Laksar and Khanpur," said sub-inspector Priyanka Negi. In a separate incident, Rehan Hasan, a resident of Laksar, was arrested on Saturday evening for the alleged abduction and rape of a 16-year-old girl from a neighbouring village on May 10. Police rescued the girl on May 14 after intensive search operations in remote villages and agricultural fields. However, the accused managed to flee at that time.
