two arrested in munger for murder of congress leader from Punjab
PATNA, April 4 -- A joint team of Munger and Punjab police raided at the locality of Jamalpur police station area and arrested two persons involved in the murder of Congress's Machhiwara block president Parminder Tiwari in Ludhiana, Punjab, on March 29, said Munger SP Syed Imran Mashood on Friday.
Acting on a tip-off, a six member team of Ludhiana police arrived Munger, with the help of local police, they raided Sadar Bazar area and arrested the two accused identified as Vijay Kumar, a resident of Khokhran village under Machhiwara police station limits in Ludhiana district, and Lakki Kumar, a resident of Irak village. Both the accused fled from Ludhiana and had been hiding in Jamalpur police station area.
The two were later produced before the Munger court, from where they were taken on transit remand by the Punjab Police.
Tiwari was killed by unidentified assailants at Hadiyan on Kohara Road of Ludhiana. he was in his rented apartment when the assailants attacked him with an axe. He was rushed to Fortis Hospital but he died. Parminder Tiwari, Machhiwara Congress block president, had put up rental quarters for the migrant workers.
Police said that the two assailants came on a motorcycle and attacked Tiwari while he was sitting on a chair. His murder was reportedly linked to a dispute over 15 yards of panchayat land....
