SASARAM, July 5 -- Two alleged child traffickers were arrested, and six minors rescued from Bihar's Rohtas district by a joint team of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) at Dehri-on-Sone railway station on Thursday evening. Police said the children were reportedly being trafficked to Rajasthan. The arrested traffickers have been identified as 40-year-old Rajkumar Sharma, a resident of Mali village in Jharkhand, and his local agent, 27-year-old Satyendra Kumar from Khairwan Khurd village in Rohtas. "A case under relevant sections related to child trafficking and child labour has been registered at the GRP police station in Dehri-on-Sone," said Amritendu Shekhar Thakur, Rail Superintendent of Police, Patna. During interrogation, the accused revealed that the six tribal children-aged between 12 and 14 and residents of Rohtas's Nauhatta area-were being taken to Jodhpur to work as labourers in a construction company under exploitative conditions. A police team raided the railway station around 7:30 pm, reportedly just before the accused could board the Howrah-Jodhpur Superfast Express with the children. "They were found at the eastern corner of platform number 2/3, appearing frightened and confused," an officer said. The children told police that Sharma had paid Rs.1,000 to their parents, promising lucrative earnings and better opportunities once they began working for the company. All rescued minors were handed over to the Child Helpline for safe custody, counseling, and eventual reunion with their families....
