BETTIAH, Oct. 30 -- Giving a clarion call for "Vote Kranti", Mahatma Gandhi's great grandson Tushar Gandhi on Wednesday feared "vote theft" by the ruling national democratic alliance (NDA) after two phases of the polling, and exhorted people to adopt a composite form of Bapu and revolutionary leader Bhagat Singh to safeguard their rights, at a public function here. Addressing a gathering at Baishkhwa in Sikta block, while seeking votes in support of sitting MLA Birendra Gupta of CMI-ML, Gandhi asked voters to overthrow the two-decade-old Nitish government in the state. He said mere rhetoric like 'vote chor, gaddi chhor' would not suffice to 'oust Nitish'. "This time, it's not just necessary to cast your vote. You also have the responsibility to ensure your vote has its impact on the results," said Gandhi's scion, dressed up as CPI-ML comrade, adding, "Simply calling them vote thieves won't suffice." "We need to on guard to impede malpractices through EVMs. If it seems they came to power by stealing votes, they must be caught, dragged from assembly, and brought to justice.
