Tribal hunting festival 'Sendra' on April 27; demand for State Fest status
Jamshedpur, April 5 -- The annual tribal hunting festival 'Sendra' Parv will be celebrated atop Dalma Hills and Wildlife Sanctuary on April 27. Dalma Raja (King of Dalma) Rakesh Hembram announced this while demanding 'Sendra' be declared a State Festival in Jharkhand, people familiar with the matter said on Saturday.
"A meeting of the Gram Sabha attended by tribal heads, including the Jugsalai Torop Pargana Dashmat Hansda, has passed a resolution to hand over a charter of demand to the Hemant Soren government for declaring Sendra as a state government festival. This is the need of the time to pass on and make our next generations aware of our tribal traditions and heritage. Myself and all the Majhi Baba, Manki-Mundas and Pargana have vowed this pledge in the meeting," Rakesh Hembram, Dalma Raja, told HT on Saturday.
The Dalma Buru (Hilly) Sendra Samiti meeting was held at Gadra panchayat under the Parsudih police station (PS) in Jamshedpur on Friday. The meeting focussed on obtaining government sanction and status for the annual Dalma Buru Sendra in which tribal hunters participate from four states - Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha and Chhattisgarh....
