PATNA, Sept. 20 -- Two bike-borne unidentified assailants opened fire targeting the owner of a marble shop at Puraini locality of Madhepura district on Friday morning before escaping, police said, adding, shop owner Niranjan Shah escaped unhurt in the attack but a bullet hit his 13-year-old daughter and pierced through her head. The reason behind the incident is said to be refusal to pay extortion. Irate over the incident, businessmen and locals blocked Udakishunganj-Nauagachia state highway 58 and disrupted vehicular traffic for hours. They raised slogans against the administration and demanded immediate arrest of the killers. Police said the incident took place around 9am when Niranjan Shah, owner of Hindustan Marble House, was sitting at his shop. His daughter Parvati, a Class 9 student was standing near her father. The assailants, posing as customers, reached the shop, asked the price of a motor pump and urged to remove the tap. During this, one of them tried to whip out his pistol. Niranjan, along with her daughter, started running away. The assailant opened fire on them. One bullet hit Parvati's head and she fell down. She was rushed to community health centre, where the doctor referred her to PMCH but she succumbed on way, police said....
