PATNA, Sept. 4 -- Prime Minister of Bhutan, Dasho Tshering Tobgay on Wednesday said, "Nalanda is not just a university of the past-it is a timeless beacon of peace, unity and spirituality that continues to inspire the world."
Tobgay was speaking during his visit to Nalanda University campus, where he also interacted with students and faculty members.
"As Bhutan's only Vajrayana Buddhist kingdom, we deeply cherish Nalanda's role in shaping our spiritual and cultural traditions. Our future collaborations with Nalanda will be an extension of this historic bond," he added.
Tobgay acknowledged the profound historical importance of Nalanda Mahavihara. Recalling ancient universities such as Al-Azhar, Bologna, Oxford, and Paris, he said Nalanda predated them all, existing for nearly 2,000 years as the world's foremost centre of higher learning and a vast city of scholarship....
