Three sisters charred to death in East Champaran
BETTIAH, May 16 -- Three minor girls of the same family were charred to death and two others sustained injuries after a fire broke out at a place in Bihar's East Champaran district on Thursday, police said.
Deceased children's father Rambabu Sah told media persons that the incident occurred when their mother was cooking in the house, while her three daughter were still asleep in a room at Narkatiya Pachhawari Tola of Ward 13 in Adapur block under Darpa police station in East Champaran district around 7am on Thursday.
"My daughters were trapped in the house which also engulfed two other houses in the vicinity. Locals and people from neighbourhood launched the rescue work. Despite all efforts, my three daughters could not be saved," said Sah amid sobs and tears.
Adapur's additional station house officer (ASHO) Shubha Kumari said the bodies had been sent for postmortem. "The incident is being investigated," she added.
When contacted, Shivakshi Dixit, sub divisional magistrate (SDM) said, "The ex-gratia of Rs.4 lakh to the next of kin of each victim would be given."...
