BUXAR/ARA, June 1 -- At least three persons were shot at in Buxar and Bhojpur districts on Saturday, police said. In Buxar district, at Barki Nainijor under the jurisdiction of Nainijor police station, a man and his granddaughter were shot at while they were sleeping outside their house. The incident occurred around midnight on Saturday. The victims have been identified as 65-year-old Chatur Yadav and his 2-year-old granddaughter Chandni Kumari. SHO of Nainijor police station, Feroj Alam, confirmed the incident and said that both injured victims were first rushed to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) at Raghunathpur. From there, they were referred to Buxar Sadar Hospital, and later to Patna. However, the family decided to admit them to Ara Sadar Hospital instead. The SHO further added that the motive behind the incident was still unclear. In the second incident in Bhojpur district, an army personnel was shot at when he resisted a loot attempt. The incident occurred on the outskirts of Purhara village under Chauri police station limits. The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Ghanshyam Rai, a resident of Purhara village and currently posted in Arunachal Pradesh. Ghanshyam had returned to his village on May 19 for his engagement ceremony, which was scheduled for May 22. He was to resume his duty on June 2. On Friday evening, he attended a function commemorating the wedding anniversary of his friend Pawan's parents at Tetaria village under Udwantnagar police station. After attending the function, he was returning to his village on a bike with his friend Ranjit Kumar late Friday evening. Near their village, two miscreants tried to loot them. When Ghanshyam resisted, one of the miscreants attempted to stab him but failed. The other miscreant then shot him....
