BETTIAH, Oct. 13 -- Bodies of two persons who went missing after a boat carrying 15 people - mostly farmers - capsized in the swollen Sikarahana river were recovered by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Sunday, police said. Confirming the recovery, Sandhya Kumari, Circle Officer (CO), Sadar (Motihari), said the death toll has now risen to three, while 12 farmers were rescued following the mishap at Purbari Tola under Lakhaura police station around 7 pm on Saturday. "In all, 15 people, many of them farmers, were returning to their village after collecting fodder for their cattle when the accident occurred," the CO said. Praveen Kumar Paswan, Station House Officer (SHO), Lakhaura police station, added, "One of the nine rescued persons died during treatment." The deceased have been identified as Kailash Sahani (45), Lal Babu Sahani (45), and Mukesh Sahani (26), residents of Brahman Tola under Lakhaura police station area in East Champaran....
