Three killed in road accident in Bihar's Purnia
PURNIA, July 11 -- Three persons, including two women and a seven-year-old girl, were killed and two others injured after a speeding SUV hit them in Bihar's Purnia district late Wednesday night.
While the injured are undergoing treatment, the driver of the SUV fled the scene.
Following the incident, agitated locals blocked the road with the bodies of the deceased, lifting the blockade only after police assured them that the driver would be arrested soon.
According to police, the victims were returning on foot from a party when the SUV, coming at high speed, first collided with a tractor and then ploughed into the pedestrians. The deceased were identified as Chandan Devi (35), her 7-year-old daughter Karuna Kumari, and Nanki Devi (30), all residents of Goriyari Tola under Jankinagar police station limits.
The injured-Priyanshu Kumar (12) and Raju Kumar (18)-are undergoing treatment at the Sub-Divisional Hospital in Dhamdaha.
Station House Officer (SHO) Parikshit Paswan said the bodies were handed over to the families after postmortem....
