Tej Pratap's 'Jaichand' barb at detractors in emotive post for parents, bro Tejashwi
PATNA, June 2 -- A week after his expulsion from the party for his irresponsible behaviour, former minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad's elder son Tej Pratap Yadav on Sunday came out with an emotive post addressed to his parents seeking 'trust and love' and also taking a jibe at his detractors, saying some 'Jaichands' had done politics with him for their 'greed'.
In another post, Tej Pratap also claimed there were many trying to separate him from his younger brother and former deputy CM Tejashwi Prasad Yadav but asserted such attempts would fail. He stressed his bond with his brother was unbreakable and said 'nobody can separate me from his Arjun (read Tejashwi)', claiming he would soon expose the conspiracy of those trying to create fissures between brothers.
In his X handle, Yadav early in the morning posted a message, stating , " My dear mom and dad... you mean the world to me and your decision is bigger than god..if your are there with me, I have everything. I only need your trust and love and nothing else. Dad, if you were not there, this party would not have existed and neither would some 'Jaichands' who have done politics with me for their greed. I only want you both to be happy and healthy". Tej Pratap is the elder son among seven daughters of former chief ministers Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi.
The post by Tej Pratap, a first reaction over his expulsion from the party and his family distancing themselves from him after the controversy over pictures with a woman last week, is seen as a move by the RJD's Hasanpur MLA to seek support from his parents to overcome his problems and also portray himself as a 'victim' of internal politics in the RJD.
It is believed, Tej Pratap's 'Jaichand' barb ( used as a euphemism for traitors in political context by many) is an oblique attack on the new leadership in the party , who are considered close to his younger sibling and leader of the opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav. In the past, the elder Yadav scion had blurted out against many new leaders in the party including some of the close confidantes of Tejashwi , calling them as ones ruining the party and trying to sideline him by ignoring his own band of loyalists. There was a face off between Tej Pratap and state president Jagdanand Singh, considered mentor of Tejashwi, a couple of years back.
" You can take the army of Krishna but not Krishna himself. I will soon expose the conspiracy .. Have faith on me brother. I am with you and my blessings are with you," Yadav further said in his second post, implying that some of party functionaries considered close to Tejashwi were in handiwork to create friction between the brothers.
"The tone and tenor of Tej Pratap only reflects how he is trying to play the emotional card and remain ensconced in the party knowing well any formal issuance of order regarding his expulsion would have an adverse affect on his political career. This is why, he is seemingly seeking support from his parents to wriggle out of this difficult situation and remain politically relevant. He is also trying to placate his younger brother, who is now almost the face of the party having authority to take key decisions," said a senior RJD leader, seeking anonymity.
The 37- yr-old elder Yadav, who has often called himself as 'kingmaker' and 'Krishna' vowing to make his younger brother and former deputy chief minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav chief minister, had been critical of the party's functioning and assertive on many occasions to gain clout in the party though Tejashwi now has positioned himself as a formidable leader and is considered heir apparent to the RJD chief.
The series of posts has come a week after Yadav triggered a big controversy after reportedly posting some pictures with a woman, claiming having a relationship with her for 12 years on his X handle on Saturday last.
He had deleted the posts and claimed his account was hacked. Tej Pratap is facing a divorce case with his wife Aishwariya Rai, granddaughter of former Bihar CM Daroga Prasad Rai. Tej Pratap had got married to Rai in 2018.
The RJD chief had not only snubbed his elder son for his irresponsible and highly unethical conduct but announced the expulsion of his son from the party for six years. The RJD , however, has not issued any formal notice regarding the expulsion of Tej Pratap so far even as some of the party leaders claimed the 'process was on'. Party spokespersons have been evasive in giving any official comment on this episode.
Earlier, Tejashwi along with eldest sister Misa Bharti, MP from Patliputra, had defended Lalu's decision. " Tej Pratap is my bade bhaiya.. But he is an adult and can take his own decisions. Our party chief has already made a decision. As for me, I do not tolerate such things..," the opposition leader had said.
In the last one week, Tej Pratap has maintained a low profile and not come up with any reaction about his expulsion from the party with his family members trying to distance themselves from him.
Ruling JD(U) and BJP leaders have called RJD chief's bid to expel his son as symbolic and have dared him to cancel the Hasanpur MLA's membership from Assembly....
