DARBHANGA, Aug. 30 -- A 23-year-old school teacher, recruited through the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC), who was also working as a Booth-Level Officer (BLO) at a primary school, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Darbhanga on Thursday evening, police said. Police further said that though he was rushed to a private hospital, he succumbed to his injuries during the treatment. The deceased, identified as Rajesh Kumar Thakur, was serving as the in-charge headmaster and Booth-Level Officer (BLO) at a government primary school in Madhpur Tola of Sonpur village under Manigachhi block, about 28 km east of the district headquarters. According to police, the attack took place when Thakur was returning from school. A resident of Sugapatti village in Phulparas, Madhubani district, Thakur was unmarried and had been appointed as a teacher only three to four years ago. Thursday was reportedly his first day of joining duty at a new school in Ghoghardiha, Madhubani, his brother said. The victim's brother alleged that the murder may be linked to a suspected affair between Thakur and a teacher at the school.
