Student raped in Purnia hostel,owner arrested
PURNIA, July 24 -- An 11-year-old student was allegedly raped by the owner of a private school in Shrinagar area under the jurisdiction of Shrinagar police station, police said on Wednesday.
Police further said that the incident occurred when the victim was trying to sleep at the hostel after having dinner. The accused Sanjay Mehta, 40, was later arrested.
The arrested school owner has refuted allegations and claimed that he was implicated in a false case after her parents were repeatedly asked to pay school and hostel fees. The school has over 250 students with 100 students staying in the hostel.
The girl, a class IV student, narrated her trauma to her parents.
"He left the room, leaving me in pain. Somehow, I managed to narrate my ordeal to the girls in the adjacent room," she said in her complaint, adding, "I informed my parents using a teacher's phone. They arrived, took me to the hospital, and lodged a complaint with the police."
Station house officer (SHO) Deepak Kumar Singh said, "We have recorded the statements of the girl and conducted a medical examination," adding, that the owner of the school has been arrested and a probe is underway....
