PATNA, Sept. 4 -- Department of revenue and land reforms on Wednesday announced termination of service of all the striking contractual employees involved with the special survey, except those 3,295 who returned to work by the August 30 deadline. ACS of the department Dipak Kumar Singh said the positions of terminated employees had been treated as vacant and fresh recruitment exercise would be started by the month end. Around 7,000 contractual employees have been sacked. The ACS said the department's directorate of land records and survey had appealed to the striking employees several times through newspapers, website and social media platforms and on August 30 the last chance was given to report on duty by 5 pm.
