Patna, Aug. 25 -- The Bihar government has sought Rs 2,700 crore from the Centre for relief and rehabilitation work in flood-affected districts.
Principal secretary (disaster management) Prataya Amrit confirmed a memorandum to this effect was submitted to the Centre on Friday.
Ministry of Home Affairs had constituted inter-ministerial central teams (IMCTs) to conduct on-the-spot assessment of damage and relief operations in the flood-affected states of the country, including Bihar.
A population of 88.47 lakh in 1,301 panchayats of 13 districts of Bihar were affected by floods, which left 130 dead. The districts affected by floods were Muzaffarpur, West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Sheohar, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Saharsa, Supaul, ...
