BETTIAH, June 21 -- In a tragic turn of events, a 25-year-old man who was stabbed and was trying to reach a hospital lost control of his car, critically injuring three morning walkers before succumbing to his injuries in Motihari town of East Champaran district on Friday, police said. Confirming the incident, Rajeev Ranjan, Station House Officer (SHO) of Town police station, said the victim, Rupesh Kumar, was driving himself to the hospital after being stabbed. However, he lost control of his vehicle near Raja Bazaar area around 4am and ran over three pedestrians - two women and a minor girl - who were on a morning walk near the local auditorium. "While the three injured women are currently admitted to a hospital, the car driver Rupesh Kumar died during treatment at a private hospital," the SHO said. In a dramatic twist, police revealed that Rupesh, a resident of New Chandmari area in Motihari, had been stabbed by one Alok Kumar following a personal dispute. According to eyewitness accounts cited by police, Rupesh's car first hit an electric pole after a glancing collision with a tree before veering off the road and ploughing into the victims. The injured have been identified as Priyanka Singh (34), her daughter Shreya Kumari (14), and Renu Devi (35). Their condition is reported to be stable.
