PATNA, Sept. 28 -- Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Director General Sanjay Singhal visited the Indo-Nepal border at Raxaul on Saturday to review security arrangements ahead of the assembly elections slated to begin in the second week of October. The SSB chief inspected the Maitri Bridge and the 47th Battalion stationed at the border, and interacted with officials of the Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI) and Customs to reinforce inter-agency coordination for curbing smuggling and cross-border crimes. As part of his review, he also visited the sector headquarters in Muzaffarpur and the Frontier Headquarters in Patna. At the Patna headquarters, DG Singhal, along with SSB IG Nishit Kumar Ujjawal, held a meeting and reviewed a presentation on responsibilities along the Indo-Nepal border and anti-Maoist operations in Bihar and Jharkhand. During his two-day visit, the DG assessed operational readiness and security measures at the sensitive border, and encouraged troops for their round-the-clock vigilance under challenging conditions.
