Jaipur/Bharatpur, June 15 -- Sri Ganganagar reported the highest temperature of over 49 degrees Celsius (degC) for consecutive two days, the highest temperature recorded in the past 91 years, IMD officials familiar of the matter said on Saturday . "On June 14, 1934, Sri Ganganagar was the hottest at 50degC. On both Friday and Saturday, the district remained the hottest in the state with 49.4degC, which is the first time in the past 91 years," said IMD director in Jaipur region Radhe Shyam Sharma. According to the IMD's data, Churu recorded the second highest temperature in the state on Saturday with 47.6degC, followed by Jaisalmer at 46.9degC, Bikaner at 46.4degC, and Barmer at 46.2degC. "In many places in both eastern and western Rajasthan, hot to extremely hot night have been reported on Friday. Meanwhile, Udaipur, Kota, Jaipur, Jodhpur and Bharatpur divisions have also recorded light to moderate rains along with thunderstorm. Some places in Udaipur also had heavy rains," the IMD statement read. IMD predicted that such rains will continue across those divisions till June 20 which may also reduce the temperature. HTC...
