Speeding car crushes 3 at wedding venue in W Champaran
BETTIAH, Nov. 18 -- At least three people died and seven others were injured after they were crushed by a speeding car at a wedding venue in a village in Bihar's West Champaran late Sunday evening, police said on Monday.
According to the police, the accident occurred after the driver of a luxury car heading towards his destination lost control over the vehicle and ran over ten people in front of the bride's house at Bishunurwa village on Bettiah - Bagaha road under Lauriya police station around 10 pm on Sunday.
"While, two died on the spot, one succumbed to his injuries in the course of treatment at a government hospital. Remaining seven women are undergoing treatment at government medical college and hospital," said Ramesh Sharma, station house officer (SHO), Lauriya police station.
Sources quoting eye-witnesses said all the victims were standing in front of the bride's house after partaking in a feast when the out-of-control car struck them at high speed. "The victims were rushed to the community health centre at Lauriya where two of them were declared brought dead," said sources.
The relatives of the injured created ruckus in the hospital, alleging negligence in treatment.
The deceased were identified as Harishankar Kushwaha (40), bridegroom's uncle, Dinesh Prasad Kushwaha (32) and Rajesh Mahato (33) - residents of separate villages in West Champaran....
