son-in-law, two others get life term for Ranchi bizman's murder
RANCHI, Sept. 23 -- A district court in Ranchi on Monday granted life imprisonment to three convicts in a three-year-old murder case registered at Sukhdeonagar police station after a land dealer, Kamal Bhusan, was shot dead at Madhukam in broad daylight, people aware of the development said.
A civil court lawyer aware of the order told Hindustan Times that those sentenced included Bhusan's son-in-law, Rahul Kumar, his father, Dablu Kujur, and a shooter used to kill Bhusan, Kavis Adnan.
"There were five accused in the case. The court let off two, as one turned approver and no evidence was found against another," the civil court lawyer said.
Prosecution lawyer Deepak Sanga confirmed the court order, saying that the order came from the court of additional judicial commissioner Anand Prakash. "There were 11 prosecution witnesses in the case, while there was no defence witness. The sentence was pronounced under section 302 of the IPC and Section 27 of the Arms Act. For a crime under Section 302 of the IPC, life imprisonment besides a fine of Rs.10,000 was sentenced, and for a crime under the Arms Act, a three-year imprisonment and a fine of Rs.5,000 were sentenced," he said. Sanga said that those exonerated were the mother of Rahul, Sushila Kujur, and Manuwar Afaq. "No evidence was found against Sushila, while Afaq, who is Rahul's friend, turned approver," Sanga said.
A lower court advocate close to the matter said that the murder was committed after Bhusan's relationship with his son-in-law and his father soured.
"Rahul solemnised marriage with Bhusan's daughter with Bhusan's consent. Rahul's father and Bhusan were partners in a land deal. After the marriage, Bhusan's relationship with Rahul's father also soured. Rahul felt threatened, and finally the murder was committed," the advocate said. "On May 30, 2022, bike-borne miscreants shot dead Bhusan at Madhukam under the Sukhdeonagar police station area. The incident occurred at Bhusan's residence. Bhusan was hit by four bullets to his head. He was rushed to RIMS, where doctors declared him dead," the advocate further said....
