Snow, light rainfall likely in hilly distts on Dec 21, says IMD
Mussoorie, Dec. 12 -- Very light to light rain or snow is likely at isolated places in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand on Sunday, a statement from the IMD Dehradun said on Thursday. Snowfall is expected at altitudes of 3,500 meters and above, while the remaining districts are likely to experience dry weather.
Director at IMD Dehradun, CS Tomar, said, "No significant change is likely in minimum temperatures during the next one to two days. However, with a feeble western disturbance developing over the western Himalayas on Sunday, we are monitoring the situation for any dip in temperatures." He added that shallow to moderate fog is likely at isolated places in the valleys of hilly districts.
Maximum temperatures remained normal in the plains and normal to markedly above normal in the hills, while minimum temperatures were normal to below normal in the plains and normal in the mountains.
The highest maximum temperature in 24 hours till 8.30am on Thursday was 23.9degC at Mohkampur (Dehradun), and the lowest minimum temperature was 4.3degC at Pithoragarh, officials said.
