BETTIAH, Nov. 27 -- Bihar's Majhauliya police arrested a 39-year-old Nepali smuggler and seized charas valued at about Rs.3 crore in the international market from his possession in West Champaran, police said on Wednesday. Providing details, Bettiah (Sadar-1) sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Vivek Deep said the smuggler was arrested at Parsa Pakari on the Bettiah-Sariswa Bazaar road under Majhauliya police station on Tuesday, while he was heading towards his destination with the consignment. "The seizure includes 12.002 kg of charas. His forward and backward linkages are being ascertained," the SDPO said. Other official sources estimated the value of the seizure at around Rs.3 crore. The arrested smuggler has been identified as Jaiprakash Sah Kanu, a resident of Bhiswa in Parsa district of Nepal. A thorough probe has been launched into the seizure of the contraband goods....
