SHO faces action after death of executive working at police stn
PURNIA, June 2 -- The body of a 26-year -old executive assistant at a police station was found hanging near the police station in Bihar's Purnia on late Saturday night. The family members have accused police of killing him, demanding stern action against the guilty.
The body of Lalit Kumar was found hanging in a room of the building of Kosi Project hardly a hundred metres from Sarsi police station where he was working as an executive assistant for last two years.
Taking strong note of the incident, Purnia superintendent of police (SP) Kartikeya K Sharma,asked station house officer (SHO) Manish Chandra Yadav of Sarsi PS to serve at Police Line and Abhay Ranjan was made SHO in his place.
Sub divisional police officer (SDPO) Subodh Kumar, who reached the site, declared it a serious issue and said forensic experts had already collected evidence from the site and the body had been sent to government medical college and hospital (GMCH) Purnia for autopsy. He said the matter was being proved from all angles.
On the other hand, brother of the deceased, Lal Bahadur has alleged that Lalit was beaten to death.
"He was upset under tremendous pressure of work and many a time he was assaulted by the SHO and other police officers. He had his last conversation with mother on Friday evening and later his phone was found switched off," he said and added, "The SHO called me to inform that he had died by suicide about 8 pm on Saturday."
He claimed there were several marks of bruises on his body suggesting he was hanged after being beaten to death.
Lalit was a resident of Bhateli village under Jalalgarh police station in Purnia.
Meanwhile ex- JD(U) MP Santosh Kumar and local Congress MLA Afaque Alam demanded stringent action against the police officers. "It is a clear case of killing and we want a high-level probe in the matter," they said, demanding immediate suspension of the SHO and sub inspector....
