SHO among four cops attacked by villagers in Banka district
BANKA, Aug. 26 -- Four policemen, including the Station House Officer (SHO), were injured and their vehicle was damaged when a group of villagers attacked them in Banka district on Sunday evening, police said.
Police further said that the incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Amarpur police station of the district, and at the time of the incident, the police team had reached the village on a complaint of goat theft.
The complainant, Paro Devi, in her statement to the Dial-112 police alleged that two men from her village, Shobhanpur, had stolen her khassi (a castrated male goat) and later killed and consumed it.
"They brutally assaulted my daughter and me when we went to demand money," she said, adding that she sought help from the Dial-112 police.
"Soon after, we reached the village and tried to pacify them, but the accused attacked us with sticks and rods, leaving us injured," the police said, adding that they also damaged the police vehicle.
The injured policemen were identified as Babloo Kumar (SHO), Lavkush Kumar, Chitransha Kumari, and Kalpna Kumari....
