BETTIAH, Sept. 2 -- Seven cyber criminals were arrested in West Champaran district on Monday, police said, adding that they laundered the extorted money in connivance with Customer Service Point (CSP) coordinators. Bettiah Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr. Shaurya Suman said that acting on a tip-off, a police team laid a trap and arrested the accused at Chamunipya Pul on the Nawalpur-Bettiah road while they were heading towards their destination. "Police seized Rs.3 lakh in cash, several ATM cards and cellphones from their possession," the SP said. Explaining their modus operandi, police said the gang would withdraw money obtained through cyber fraud committed in different states and hand it over to CSP operators. The operators, in turn, provided the same amount in cash to customers visiting their centres. The operators then got the equivalent amount transferred to their bank accounts via UPI. After deducting their commission, they sent the remaining sum to accounts specified by the cyber criminals. Those arrested have been identified as Adarsh Kumar, Pramod Kumar, Imran Hussain, Absar Alam, Arshad Ansari, Parvez Alam and Md. Qasim - all residents of West Champaran....
