BETTIAH, July 18 -- The home department has suspended a sub-divisional police officer (SDPO)-rank officer, Dhirendra Kumar, following serious allegations of manipulation and corruption during his tenure in the Raxaul sub-division of East Champaran district. According to a notification issued on July 16, Dhirendra Kumar, a resident of Nalanda district who was posted in Raxaul, has been suspended with immediate effect. The action comes after he was found guilty in an inquiry conducted by the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Champaran range. The inquiry report, related to case number 132/2025 registered at the Raxaul police station, cited serious violations of the Bihar Government Servants' Conduct Rules, 1976. When contacted, DIG Harkishore Rai said, "Following a complaint from a Raxaul-based businessman, serious allegations of manipulation and other charges against Dhirendra Kumar were found to be true during the preliminary investigation into his tenure as Raxaul SDPO. Accordingly, his suspension was recommended." The complainant alleged that Dhirendra Kumar had colluded with his business rivals and falsely implicated him in a case involving the abduction of a staff member from his garment showroom.
