Sale of newborn: Quack, two accomplices held from Rohtas
ARA, Dec. 21 -- The Garahni police in Bhojpur achieved a major breakthrough in the case of a grandmother selling the newborn immediately after birth by arresting a quack from Rohtas and his two accomplices who allegedly bought the newborn.
The two were arrested from Piro and Aurangabad based on information provided by the doctor, Dilip alias Harishankar Pandit. Besides Dr Dilip alias Harishankar Pandit, the arrested include Bunty Kumar, a resident of Andhari Bagh village under Tiyar police station area, and Sandeep Kumar, a resident of Vishambharpur village under Kasma police station area of Aurangabad.
Bunty Kumar is a staff member at a private clinic in Piro, while Sandeep Kumar runs a nursing home in Goh, Aurangabad.
The main accused, Dr Dilip, is a resident of Hunkadih village in the Suryapura police station area of Rohtas. He also runs clinics in Dinara and other places in Rohtas. However, the newborn was yet to be recovered. Police are conducting continuous raids based on the information provided by Dr Dilip.
SHO of Garahni police station Kamaljeet said that due to continuous police pressure, the main accused, Dr Dilip alias Harishankar Pandit, surrendered at the Garahni police station. Based on his information, Bunty Kumar was apprehended from Piro, while Sandeep Kumar was caught from Aurangabad.
The police after questioning, the police sent all three to jail.
According to reports, on December 7, Khushboo Kumari, wife of Chitaranjan Kumar, a resident of Narayanpur village, gave birth to a son. Immediately afterward, Khushboo's mother-in-law, Krinta Devi, with the help of a neighbouring woman and her relative, sold the newborn grandson to Dr Dilip for fifty thousand rupees.
After Khushboo Kumari filed a First Information Report (FIR) on December 16, the police took swift action and arrested Khushboo Kumari's mother-in-law Krinta Devi, Kavita Sharma from the same village, Kavita Sharma's relative and Home Guard constable Chandni Sharma from Ara, and Dr. Dilip's assistant Preeti Kumari.
The police are also trying to uncover the entire case related to the buying and selling of the child. It is believed that Home Guard woman constable Chandni Sharma played the most important role in selling the newborn....
