SAHARSA, June 5 -- The body of a 16-year-old boy, who went missing two days ago, was recovered on Wednesday morning in Bihar's Saharsa district. Police identified the deceased as Gautam Kumar, son of Rajeev Kumar, a resident of Tiri Panchayat under the jurisdiction of Baijnathpur police station. Gautam was a Class IX student. Police said the boy had left home on Monday and did not return until late evening, prompting his family members to search for him on their own. "The family did not inform the police about his disappearance," they added. On Wednesday morning, Gautam's body was found under a bridge near a temple. His mother later identified the body, which had already started decomposing. A police team rushed to the spot and took custody of the body. Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Alok Kumar said, "Prima facie, it appears that he was strangled to death. Marks around his neck suggest that he was killed by strangulation."
