GAYA JI, June 25 -- A team of scientists from the Forest Research Institute (FRI), Dehradun - Dr. Santan Bharthawal and Dr. Sailesh Pandey - announced on Tuesday that the sacred Bodhi Tree at Bodh Gaya is in good health following a routine check-up. The 2,300-year-old Bodhi Tree, under which Lord Buddha is believed to have attained enlightenment, is among the most revered sites for Buddhist pilgrims from across the world. After a detailed inspection on Monday and Tuesday, the scientists reported that the main trunk of the Bodhi Tree is in good condition, with lush green foliage and no visible signs of stress. As is common during the onset of the monsoon season, a minor mealybug infestation was detected on a few small branches. A chemical spray was applied as a precaution, and a mild treatment was given to ensure the tree's continued well-being. An infected dried branch was removed to eliminate any potential risk to the surrounding healthy growth. Dead and weakened branches were also pruned, Dr. Pandey said....
