PATNA, Feb. 13 -- In a major step to fill up vacancies in the government engineering colleges and polytechnic institutes, the state cabinet on Wednesday approved the change of norms for teachers' recruitment in technical colleges.

Henceforth, those willing to take up teaching jobs in polytechnic and engineering colleges need to undertake a written examination, based on objective types, for 40 marks. Academic research and experience of the candidates will carry 60 marks for their selection.

Change of norms for appointment of technical teachers was among the 20 proposals of different departments that were approved by the Cabinet at its meeting chaired by chief minister Nitish Kumar.
