RPF rescues infant from Ranchi rly stn
Ranchi, Dec. 22 -- The Railway Protection Force (RPF) rescued a three-month-old male infant abandoned near the overbridge next to the Government Railway Police (GRP) on platform No. 1 of the Ranchi Junction Saturday night, officials said.
"Acting on the instructions of Commandant Pawan Kumar, RPF Ranchi personnel are maintaining vigilance during their duty. In this connection, on December 20, during a routine check, shift officer ASI Arun Kumar and woman constable Rakhi Kumari, on duty at RPF Post Ranchi, found an approximately three-month-old male infant abandoned near the overbridge next to the GRP, Ranchi office on platform No. 1 of Ranchi railway station. The incident was immediately reported to GRP, Ranchi. Woman constable Rakhi Kumari safely brought the infant to the GRP, Ranchi office, where he was placed in safe custody," the press statement issued on Sunday read.
The press statement further stated that the infant was handed over to the Child Welfare Committee, and no one turned up to claim the child.
"No clue about the person who had abandoned the infant could be found despite reviewing CCTV footage and making inquiries with passengers."...
