Jodhpur, June 26 -- A political row has erupted after the inauguration event of a school building by former chief minister Ashok Gehlot was cancelled and the school education department later announced that it would be inaugurated by education minister Madan Dilawar. Gehlot, who arrived in Jodhpur on Tuesday night for a five-day visit, had included the inauguration of a new government school building in Ward No. 75, Pahadganj-II, in his official itinerary. The event was slated for the evening of June 27, and details were shared on his social media platforms. However, late Tuesday, the district information and public relations department issued a statement declaring that the inauguration would instead be conducted by education minister Madan Dilawar. "The school building was constructed under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, a centrally sponsored scheme," an official said. The department added that the date would be finalised in accordance with the minister's schedule. Gehlot, meanwhile, told reporters on Wednesday that the inauguration had initially been planned because the building was partly funded through his MLA development fund. "Now that the education minister's intentions are clear, the programme has been cancelled," he said. BJP Jodhpur City president Rajendra Paliwal said: "There is no controversy in the matter. Since the education minister is also the in-charge minister for Jodhpur district and regularly visits the city to monitor the state government's flagship schemes, the inauguration of the school building was already proposed to be done by him."...
