Robbers apprehended within 24 hours of loot in Samastipur district
SAMASTIPUR, May 1 -- In a swift breakthrough, police arrested two criminals and their accomplice within 24 hours of a daring robbery at Vikrampur Bande which falls under the jurisdiction of Karpoori Gram police station in Samastipur district. A rented pistol used in the crime was also seized.
Police said that Nagendra Kumar, a native of Saran district and an employee of a finance company, was returning after collecting cash on Tuesday afternoon when two bike-borne assailants intercepted him, pushed him to the ground, and fled with Rs.1 lakh kept in a burnt-coloured bag. Besides, the robbers also fled with a tablet and a biometric machine.
Following the incident, the victim immediately alerted police by dialling the 112 emergency helpline.
Sub-divisional police officer (SDPO-Sadar 1) Sanjay Kumar Pandey said that an intensive investigation led to the arrest of two accused, Premchand Kumar alias Raghav and Golu Kumar, along with a third accomplice, Rahul Kumar, who had allegedly masterminded the crime.
Police recovered Rs.76,000 of the looted amount from the arrested individuals, and empty shells were found at the crime scene.
During interrogation, the trio confessed to using a rented pistol for the robbery. They claimed to have returned the firearm and the remaining cash to the supplier after the incident. None of the arrested individuals have any prior criminal records, the SDPO said....
