PATNA, Nov. 25 -- The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has sent notices to 32 Bhojpuri, Maithili and Magahi singers who sang songs mentioning the party, along with names like Lalu Prasad and Tejashwi Yadav. Many of these singers are from states outside Bihar. The notice states that legal action for defamation will be initiated against artists who do not provide clarification. However, the RJD is not disclosing the names of these singers. According to some reports doing rounds online, some of these singers include Tuntun Yadav, Deepak Raj Yadav, Gandhi Lal Yadav, Saurav Yadav, Gautam Yadav, Khushi Kakkar, Khushbu Raj and others. Tuntun Yadav had sung a song with wordings as "marab sixer ke, char goli chati me" (sixer of shooting, six bullets in the chest). Prime Minister Narendra Modi had mentioned this song in one his election rallies to highlight that if "RJD comes back to power, it would bring back guns out in the open." After PM's mention, the criticism of such songs became widespread. The RJD believes that there was a conspiracy to tarnish its image as one of the reasons for its major defeat in the 2025 assembly elections. The results are being analysed from every perspective, including the fear expressed by opponents about the return of jungle raj following the grand alliance's victory. This fear is also reinforced by songs with such lyrics. The action by the RJD is essentially to prevent the political misuse of its name in the entertainment industry. In fact, during the election campaign, such songs were widely circulated on social media, which contained violent, provocative, and chaotic dialogues. The legal notice asks the singers to provide proof whether they had permission to use the name of RJD or RJD leaders. If they can't furnish such evidence, FIR will be lodged against them, the party threatens. Moreover, RJD will also file defamation suits against the singers, who are actually RJD supporters and released the songs in support of the party. "The notices ask why permission was not sought for the use of the party and leaders' names and their image. The party's legal team will now review the clarifications from those singers. If the response is unsatisfactory, further action will be taken," said RJD spokesperson Shakti Singh Yadav....
