RJD MLA shifted to Bhagalpur jail
PATNA, May 3 -- Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) legislator from Danapur Ritlal Yadav, currently imprisoned in connection with an extortion case, was transferred with two of his associates from Beur Central Jail (Patna) to high security Bhagalpur Central Jail for six months following reports that they were running criminal gangs from inside the jail, a home department official said on Friday.
"We had received a security audit report to the state government apprising it of violation of jail manuals at Beur central jail detected when dozens of people had gathered there to meet the RJD leader," said the official.
Ritlal and two other criminals - Shrawan Yadav and Chiku Yadav -- were shifted to Bhagalpur jail by the home department on the basis of recommendations made by district administration. Earlier on April 11, searches were conducted at 11 places in Danapur and other localities in the state capital after registering an FIR against Ritlal Yadav and five others on the basis of a complaint filed by a Patna-based builder. Ritlal and his associates demanded huge money as extortion from a builder-cum-developer and threatened him with dire consequences if he failed to follow their diktats.
