PATNAs, Aug. 26 -- Former Bihar minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLA Tej Pratap Yadav after being expelled from the party on May 25 for six years has stepped up his attack on some of the RJD MLAs, causing uneasiness in the rank and files at a time when the state elections are drawing close. In a post on X (Formerly Twitter), Tej Pratap, recently claimed that "some traitors are hatching a conspiracy to finish his political career causing restlessness among some leaders. "I want to tell Tejashwi that there is still time. Be cautious of 'Jaichands' (a metaphor for traitors) around you, otherwise, you will see very bad results in the elections. Now, how wise you are will be determined by the election results," he said. Last Thursday, he again posted on X, "Five people worked together to completely ruin my life... They could not tolerate my jovial nature and hence made such allegations to ruin my career. I will go to court and file a case too... I think these people took money from the RSS and BJP and tried to tarnish my image because they saw that elections are coming and there is a craze among the youth for me. I will soon put the names of these people from five families in front of everyone... These conspirators have a gang running from Patna to Delhi... They used to be in the RJD but were expelled due to their misdeeds... These individuals have no other job except to be constantly active on social media, using it to tarnish the image of others..." Using social media platforms frequently, he targeted an RJD MLA from Maner, Bhai Virendra, one of the vocal faces of the RJD. "Will RJD also take action against its MLA Bhai Virendra, who made shameful remarks against the SC-ST society, contrary to the ideals of Baba Saheb Ambedkar, and threatened to kill? ... Now it remains to be seen whether the party will show the same strictness on those who create a ruckus or not. Respect for the Constitution should be seen in conduct, not in speeches." This direct attack has stirred a fresh political storm within the RJD and has brought simmering factional tensions and alleged organisational bias to the surface. Tej Pratap's, Lalu Prasad's eldest son, statement doesn't just target Bhai Virendra; it indirectly criticised the party's top brass, including RJD chief Lalu Prasad and Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Tejashwi Yadav, his brother. By referencing his expulsion and calling out "Jaichands", Tej Pratap accused the leadership of double standards, suggesting selective enforcement of discipline within the party. Lalu's eldest son demonstrated his political power by doing a roadshow in Maner, which is known as the stronghold of Yadavs. A large number of youth participated in this roadshow. He addressed a street meeting near Ram Nagina Singh Memorial in Maner and took RJD MLA Bhai Virendra to task without taking his name. "The bull is roaming around unbridled. You people should tame it. Just like Lord Krishna tamed Kaliya Nag, in the same way the great people of Maner will tame the bull," he said and added that the bull got him out of the organisation. The Hasanpur MLA, who has announced to contest from Mahua, was also critical of the Voter Adhikar Yatra and feels that the SIR was not an issue in Bihar. Sharing a 19-second video clip of the incident on his official X handle, Tej Pratap said, "I am not able to understand whether Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav have come out to save democracy or to destroy democracy." On Sunday at Begusarai, he (Tej Pratap) claimed himself to be a grassroots leader. "The people of Bihar already know who the real second Lalu is. We are grassroots leaders," Tej Pratap said. "These leaders (Tejashwi and Rahul) are travelling in air-conditioned cars. They are not even shaking hands with the public," said Tej Pratap. Tej Pratap Yadav has formed an organisation named 'Team Tej Pratap' and has so far announced his candidates on three seats in Bihar. He has given ticket to Jai Prakash Yadav alias Gandhi Yadav from Ghosi assembly seat of Jehanabad district and Madan Yadav from Shahpur assembly seat of Bhojpur district. Now Shankar Kumar Yadav has been declared the candidate from Maner seat. He has formed an alliance with five small parties like Vikas Vanchit Insaan Party (VVIP), Bhojpuriya Jan Morcha, Pragatisheel Janata Party, Wajib Adhikar Party and Samyukta Kisan Vikas Party. This alliance is being considered an attempt to appease Yadav, Muslim and Nishad communities, which, some feel, is going to pose a challenge to the politics, particularly that of the RJD. "Disgruntled RJD leaders or those not getting tickets may join him," said a RJD leader not willing to be quoted. "The attack on Bhai Virendra in Maner and his activism in Begusarai shows that he is not only after the RJD and Tejashwi Yadav, he is also challenging the political ground of the Congress," said Gyanendra Yadav, associate professor of Sociology, College of Commerce. Tej Pratap's political move has given rise to discussions of a third front. Speculations about his possible alliance with Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM is also gaining ground. The way Tej Pratap Yadav has come out openly among the public, he has started criticising Tejashwi Yadav's policies, in such a situation, along with political signals, a new direction of politics in Bihar also seems to be getting decided. Some experts, however, feel that he would make a marginal impact on the RJD. "Nobody takes him seriously. Bihar is a caste- ridden society and everybody is decided on that line," feels political analyst N K Chowdhary....
