Retd CID inspector's son gets top rank in JPSC
Ranchi, July 26 -- Ashish Akshat, son of retired CID inspector Subodh Kumar Srivastava, topped the civil services examination 2023 conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), qualifying for the post of deputy superintendent of police (DySP).
On Friday, the JPSC released its final result sheet, carrying the names of 342 candidates qualified for different posts in the state civil and police services.
Originally from Dhanbad, Akshat received his early education from De Nobili School in Dhanbad and DAV, Bokaro. After this, he studied civil engineering at NIT Jamshedpur. He then moved to Delhi and started preparing for the civil services examination.
"Credit for the success goes to my mother, father, elder brother, and wife, who always kept boosting my morale. My elder brother, Kumar Abhishek, and I prepared jointly for the examination. Unfortunately, he could not qualify, but my discussions with him on different topics helped me a lot," Akshat said.
Akshat cleared the examination in his second attempt. "Last time, I reached up to the interview but could not clear it. This time, I was able to clear the examination and secure the top position," he said.
Asked how tough it is to crack JPSC, Akshat said, "The JPSC examination is straightforward. It has a defined syllabus. If one consistently prepares for the examination without being affected by the result, they can clear it."
Asked about the challenges he faced, Akshat said preparing for examinations while doing a job remained challenging. "I work in a private company in Gurgaon. Preparing for examinations after my daily job was challenging," he said.
JPSC secretary Sandeep Kumar on Friday released the result, according to which Ashish Akshat secured the top position in the police service in this examination, while Abhay Kujur topped in the administrative service.
Those who followed Akshat, securing the next top nine positions, included Abhay Kujur, Ravi Ranjan Kumar, Gautam Gaurav, Shweta, Rahul Kumar Vishwakarma, Robin Kumar, Sandeep Prakash, Swati Keshari, and Rajiv Ranjan.
JPSC had invited applications for recruitment to a total of 342 posts, which included 207 posts of deputy collector and 35 posts of DySP, besides 100 other posts. The application process for this started in February 2024.
