Reconstruction work soon on damaged Aguani ghat-Sultanganj bridge
PATNA, April 30 -- Reconstruction of Aguani Ghat-Sultanganj bridge, a portion of which had collapsed in the river Ganga in June 2023, is likely to commence soon.
Chief secretary Amrit Lal Meena, after reviewing the progress in the light of Patna High Court's order and affidavit filed by the construction company (SP Singla Construction Ltd), directed the road construction department (RCD) and the Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited (BRPNNL) to facilitated approval of the new design, based on the technology of composite steel beam with concrete deck, and start construction at the earliest.
Meena talking to the Hindustan Times on Tuesday said that he had directed the officials of RCD and BRPNNL to sort out all issues and begin the bridge's reconstruction, as it has already been delayed. At an inter-departmental meeting, Meena, who had earlier headed the RCD, asked the officials to opt for a composite steel beam with concrete deck technology, which would be more durable and reliable....
