Raxaul SHO suspended for Rs.1.8 lakh shopping on credit, implicating shopkeeper
BETTIAH, May 22 -- Bihar's Champaran range deputy inspector general (DIG) Harkishore Rai suspended Raxaul's station house officer (SHO) for allegedly making purchases worth Rs.1.8 lakh from a businessman's shop on credit and implicating him in a case when asked for payment in East Champaran district, police said on Wednesday.
East Champaran's superintendent of police (SP) Swarn Prabhat on Wednesday informed media persons that the action had been taken against Raxaul's SHO Rajeev Nandan Sinha after an allegation of making purchases worth Rs.1.8 lakh from a businessman's shop and not paying the money and later making him (the businessman) an accused in some cases was found true in the course of investigation by the DIG.
"After being found guilty in the investigation, the SHO has been suspended and departmental proceedings are being initiated against him," the SP said.
People familiar with the matter said that the SHO had taken apparels and some other items from a Raxaul-based shopkeeper on credit.
However, irked by the shopkeeper's constant follow-up for payment, the police officer allegedly implicated him in a fabricated case.
The details of the case and the charges under which the shopkeeper was implicated could not be known immediately.
When contacted, DIG Rai said, "He has been suspended for suspicious conduct, including filing the FIR quite late despite repeated orders, and for not paying for shopping worth almost Rs.1.8 lakh."
Meanwhile, a thorough probe has been launched into it....
