PATNA, Sept. 4 -- Madhubani sub-divisional jail in Bihar turned into a marriage venue after a 26-year-old undertrial prisoner accused of rape married the complainant on the prison premises, officials said on Wednesday. Jail superintendent Om Prakash Shanti Bhushan said the prisoner, Badri Yadav alias Chhote, a resident of Lokahi police station area, tied the knot with the complainant-mother of a three-year-old child-at the temple inside the jail in the presence of their family members, lawyers and prison staff. She later left her in-laws' house and lodged an FIR at the Women's police station on June 29, 2024. He was arrested soon after," said additional public prosecutor Mishri Lal Yadav. Badri's regular bail plea was initially rejected by the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADJ-1) Syed Mohammad Fajlul Bari, Madhubani. Justice Ashok Kumar Pandey, while hearing the bail petition, directed the trial court to verify whether the marriage had been solemnised and said the bail bond would be accepted only after such verification. After both families consented, the bride and groom willingly agreed to marry. They cited the same in an affidavit before the ADJ court....
