Raj: Drug smuggling network busted
Bharatpur/Jhalawar, Dec. 6 -- A drug smuggling network in Jhalawar has been busted and 128 people allegedly involved in the drug mafia were arrested and contraband worth Rs.8.40 crore were recovered, police said on Friday.
According to police, under "Operation Divya Prahar", police registered 78 complaints and arrested 128 people in the last four months and properties worth Rs.125 crore were seized. Properties worth Rs.50 crore, which were illegally built on government land were bulldozed, police said. The police also recovered Rs.31,95,900 in cash.
Jhalawar superintendent of police Amit Kumar said a special police team was formed to investigate the drug smugglers. Illegal properties of drug mafia were identified and with help of public works departments officials, police recorded the value of their properties, Kumar said.
Police sent a request to the competent authority in Delhi to freeze the property allegedly linked to the drug mafia. 107 properties, including luxury houses, agriculture farm lands, commercial plots, petrol pumps and vehicles were named.
After approval from the competent authority, police seized the properties of drug mafia under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance (NDPS) act.
The vehicles involved in the mafia's drug operation worth Rs.4 crore were seized, SP Kumar said.
Police teams were regularly conducting raids on the drug mafia's properties.
On September 17,2025, police along with power department teams conducted raids at 100 drug mafia-linked locations and imposed fines for power theft.
A notorious drug smuggler Shyam Lal was arrested under section Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PITNDPS Act) and sent him to high security jail in Ajmer....
